With accreditation standards, such as ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO/IEC 17020, incorporating the management system requirements of ISO 9001, more and more organizations are trying to understand how management system concepts in certification standards help support accreditation and overall performance of laboratory related activities. International standards for quality have been around for more than three decades and have evolved from primarily a conformance focus to now including performance and risk considerations. Additionally, several major events since the turn of the century have also pointed out the need to consider business continuity.
This course will provide participants an introduction to risk management and business continuity. The course will demonstrate how to incorporate processes for risk management and business continuity into the management system to mitigate potential organizational losses.
In addition to discussing quality requirements in accreditation standards, such as ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO/IEC 17020, and quality management concepts in certification standards, such as ISO 9001, this course will also provide with clarification regarding management system frameworks and aspects of process and quality management. Additionally, insights will be provided on how to ensure that the management system is seen as value-added across all levels of the organization, taking into account the multiple perspectives of conformance, performance (customer satisfaction and other business objectives), risk and continuity.
This course is ideal for anyone involved in managing or assessing a quality management system (internal auditors, management system representatives/coordinators, technical experts, process owners/managers).
