Accreditation in the Cannabis Industry

The ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) provides accreditation and training to companies covering all facets of the cannabis industry. While laboratory accreditation is the most common use of accreditation in the cannabis industry, additional programs are gaining popularity in the effort to ensure the quality of products being produced and sold. Personnel credentialing and product certification are two areas where accreditation can assist in ensuring personnel are qualified to perform work and products are certified demonstrating specified requirements are met.

Melanie Ross | Technical Products Developer
Melanie Ross has over 20 years of experience in quality assurance, quality control, and quality management. She has worked in several different industries, including chemical, biological, oil and gas, and aerospace. Her main role in each of these industries was the development of management systems, including internal audit programs, vendor qualification procedures, and implementation of lean six sigma. Currently, Melanie is a Technical Products Developer for ANAB designing and delivering training courses and supporting client outreach through business development activities. Her role serves as a technical resource to customers, assessors, and other interested parties.

Reinaldo Figueiredo | Product/Process/Service Accreditation Program
For almost three decades, Mr. Figueiredo has dedicated his expertise to a variety of international conformity assessment activities. Since 1994, he’s held an active role in ISO/CASCO working groups, including participating in the revision of ISO/IEC Guide 65, General requirements for bodies operating product certification systems. Mr. Figueiredo joined ANSI in 1999 as the manager of the Institute’s conformity assessment activities. In 2001, he took over ANSI’s product certification accreditation as a program Director. In 2002 Mr. Figueiredo was promoted to Vice President, Conformity Assessment Strategy.
Dr. Turan Ayvaz |Senior Director of the Certificate Accreditation Program (CAP)
Dr. Ayvaz’s primary focus areas include overseeing the accreditation process under ANSI/ASTM E2659, managing client relationships, and providing subject-matter expertise to all parties. Prior to joining ANAB, Dr. Ayvaz was with Macro International, a governmental consulting firm, where he provided program evaluation and workforce development support to several U.S. federal agencies. He was also a research fellow at the George Washington University’s Center for the Study of Learning, conducting research and consulting projects on organization and leadership development. Dr. Ayvaz has also extensive experience in quality management. He holds a doctorate in human and organizational learning from the George Washington University.
Keith Klemm |Senior Manager of Accreditation, Lab-related
Manager for ANAB and has been with ANAB for nearly 5 years.
Prior to joining ANAB, Keith has worked in the Food Microbiology, Medical Device and Environmental laboratory testing laboratory for 30 years.
