World Accreditation Day 2018: Delivering a Safer World
Accreditation: Delivering a Safer World
Annually on June 9, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) will join accreditation organizations worldwide to recognize World Accreditation Day (WAD). Established by the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperative (ILAC), WAD highlights the important role of accreditation around the globe.
The expectation of safe workplaces, safe products, safe transport, safe food, and safety in all aspects of our lives is universally shared. But statistics show this expectation is not matched by reality. Closing this gap is a vital consideration for government, regulators, and businesses as they strive to keep people safer in their work lives, their domestic lives, their journeys, and all other parts of their lives.
As in previous years, the World Accreditation Day will be celebrated around the globe with national events, seminars, and press and media coverage, to provide an opportunity to explore how accreditation can help deliver a safer world and to support businesses, government, and regulators in finding standards, conformity assessment, and accreditation tools to support them in this goal.
IAF and ILAC make a number of items available for World Accreditation, including a poster and brochure, and a joint statement issued by the chairs of IAF and ILAC.
A video, Delivering a Safer World, has been published on ILAC and IAF’s YouTube channel to support World Accreditation Day.
