The ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) proudly joins organizations around the world in celebrating World Accreditation Day, an annual initiative established by the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) to highlight the important role of accreditation in the global economy.

This year’s theme, “Accreditation: Empowering Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs),” recognizes the critical contributions that SMEs make to innovation, job creation, and community development. As the backbone of many national economies, SMEs rely on accredited conformity assessment to demonstrate the quality, safety, and reliability of their products and services—helping them win trust and confidence to compete on a global scale.

“Accredited conformity assessment is especially valuable to SMEs as it can level the playing field and give them access to international markets, build customer confidence, and support sustainable growth,” said Keith Mowry, senior manager of business development at ANAB. “We are proud to contribute to the support of SMEs across diverse sectors as they grow their businesses by meeting rigorous standards and fueling innovation.”

As a multi-disciplinary accreditation body, ANAB is involved with thousands of conformity assessment body customers—many of whom are SMEs themselves—across areas such as testing and calibration laboratories, product certification, inspection services, and management systems.  ANAB-accredited conformity assessment bodies also serve SME customers, expanding the impact and benefit of ANAB accreditation.

ANAB remains committed to assuring that accreditation continues to serve as a strategic tool for SMEs, helping them navigate complex regulatory landscapes, improve performance, and earn global recognition.

On World Accreditation Day, ANAB also opens registration for ACAS, the inaugural ANAB Conformity Assessment Symposium, which will take place in January 2026. ACAS is positioned to attract a variety of conformity assessment professionals from across all sectors.
