Every June 9, the global accreditation community marks World Accreditation Day (WAD) to recognize the role accreditation plays in everyday life. This year’s theme, Innovation, Trust and Sustainability: The Power of Accreditation, spotlights how accreditation and conformity assessment enable innovation, build trust and support a more sustainable future.
Businesses everywhere face the challenge of accessing markets, competing fairly and demonstrating regulatory compliance. Consumers face their own challenge: knowing that the goods and services they buy come from reputable sources, are fit for purpose and are environmentally sustainable. Accreditation and conformity assessment are proven tools that make this confidence possible. The 2026 theme shares real examples of how accreditation supports these three pillars, with the goal of encouraging wider adoption across the global economy.
WAD focuses on how accreditation, backed by the global Multilateral Recognition Arrangement (MRA) established by Global Accreditation Cooperation Incorporated (Global ACI), helps business and industry compete in a global marketplace. Under the MRA, accredited results issued in one economy are recognized in others, reducing the need to re-evaluate products and services in every market and helping to lower technical barriers to trade.
