ANAB Provide Evaluation Services for the Global Retailer and Manufacturer Alliance (GRMA) Product Integrity Program

The ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB), has been recognized by the Global Retail and Manufacturer Alliance (GRMA) as an evaluator of participant laboratories for the GRMA Dietary Supplement Product Integrity Program. This partnership leverages the expertise of both organizations to demonstrate the competence of laboratories participating in the program.

ANAB, operating in accordance with ISO/IEC 17011, Conformity assessment – General requirements for accreditation bodies accrediting conformity assessment bodies, adheres to the highest internationally accepted practices for accreditation bodies. As a signatory of the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperations (ILAC) Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA), ANAB possesses the necessary competence to evaluate laboratories participating in the GRMA Integrity Program.

GRMA’s evaluation criteria for accepting laboratories into the Dietary Supplement Integrity Program aim to:

• Protect consumer health and safety
• Provide better risk-management programs for laboratories
• Improve the efficiency of manufacturers and independent laboratories
• Create a unified list of laboratories accepted by GRMA
• Assure consistency in the results of testing conducted by different laboratories
• Reduce the number of evaluations required by retailers
• Allow manufacturers time to focus on continuous improvement

As part of the implementation of the GRMA Integrity Program, ANAB will manage all stages necessary to conduct a technical evaluation of manufacturers or independent laboratories in accordance with technical requirements developed by consensus with industry representatives, including major retailers; manufacturers; brands; testing, inspection, and certification (TIC) organizations; trade organizations; and more.

“The independent evaluation of laboratories by ANAB’s competent assessors, in accordance with GRMA requirements, will foster trust in the testing conducted by these laboratories, ultimately enhancing consumer protection,” said Jason Stine, ANAB vice president for inspection, laboratory, and related activities.
