ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) Accredits Pasco Sheriff’s Office to Property and Evidence Control Units
The ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) has accredited the Pasco Sheriff’s Office (PSO) under the Property and Evidence Control Units (AR 3181) program. ANAB introduced the Accreditation for the Management and Operation of Property and Evidence Control Units in early 2023 and PCO is the first organization in Florida to gain accreditation to this new program. This program helps maintain the integrity of the criminal justice system by ensuring that property and evidence are managed securely and responsibly.
Confidence in an organization’s ability to maintain the integrity of property and evidence items is crucial to the successful administration of justice and to maintain public trust. Whether property and evidence items are entrusted for short-term or long-term care, whether they are destined for the forensic laboratory, the courtroom, return to the owner, permanent retention or eventual destruction, ANAB accreditation will ensure that appropriate processes are in place.
“Pasco Sheriff’s Office is committed to upholding all applicable laws and regulations. This accreditation is a testament to our dedication to our community and is essential for maintaining the integrity of property and evidence entrusted to us, while also protecting the integrity of investigations. We’re grateful to ANAB and our members who adhere to these policies to ensure respect for citizens’ rights,” says Pasco Sherriff’s Office.
“Pasco Sheriff’s Office accreditation is important to ANAB in assisting our law enforcement partners to safeguard the chain of custody and greatly reduce the operational vulnerability to the agency. All of us have a shared commitment to the continuous improvement of our criminal justice system. We believe the Property and Evidence Control Unit accreditation program is the missing puzzle piece for law enforcement agencies to further protect their integrity and increase their trustworthiness with the citizens and communities they serve,” says Pam Sale, ANAB Vice President of Forensics.
