ANAB-CFP Accreditation Committee (ACAC)

The ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) has a cooperative agreement with the Conference for Food Protection (CFP) to accredit organizations involved in the certification of food protection managers in accordance with the CFP’s Standards for Accreditation of Food Protection Manager Certification Program.

Members and Officers

Membership on the ACAC is balanced according to the agreement between ANAB and CFP: two members of the Committee are appointed by the CFP and the ACAC Chair and remaining members are appointed by ANAB.

The ACAC shall have a voting membership of not less than six and not more than 10 persons. ACAC vacancies created by members leaving before the expiration of a term may be filled by appointment for the remainder of the term by the respective organizations they represent.

To ensure transparency as well as equity and due process, accreditation committee proceedings follow PR 7502, Operating Procedure for Credentialing Accreditation Committees.

The committees are responsible for policy, procedures and accreditation decisions relating to credentialing bodies and related activities, specifically:

  • Recommending policies.
  • Creating procedures to support the approved policies.
  • Receiving recommendations for accreditation from ANAB approved assessors,
  • Hearing first-level appeals regarding accreditation decisions and/or complaints regarding a credentialing body.
  • Preparing procedures and criteria for assessment.
  • Formulating policy matters relating to the operation of the credentialing program.
  • Reviewing the process of assessment and rendering decisions on accreditation.
  • Making decisions relating to the granting, maintaining, extending, suspending, reducing, and withdrawing of accreditation.
  • Creating procedures to support the approved policies.
  • Receiving recommendations for accreditation from ANAB approved assessors.
  • Supervising the implementation of accreditation program policies.
