ANAB Announces Training Updates and New Courses in 2021

ANAB Conformity Assessment Training, ISO/IEC 17025, ISO/IEC 17043, ISO/IEC 27006, ISO/IEC 17029 laboratories and inspection bodies, proficiency testing

The ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB), a wholly owned subsidiary of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has announced that it will provide new and improved courses in 2021, and will continue to provide online live training.

While ANAB anticipates once again offering in-person training in the second half of 2021, ANAB is committed to continuing to provide online live options for all training courses moving forward. Additionally, with the ability to reach a wider, more diverse audience with online training, ANAB is also offering many of its current courses in Spanish. ANAB has also announced new courses in 2021:

Basic Statistics for Laboratories and Inspection Bodies. This course will introduce basic statistical techniques for collecting, organizing, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting data. Participants will strengthen their knowledge base of statistical techniques and their application to ISO/IEC 17020 and ISO/IEC 17025, and build confidence in the validity and reliability of their results.

Verification and Validation of Methods for Laboratories and Inspection Bodies. This course will provide an introduction to the validation and verification of analytical methods and the common elements of a validation or verification plan. In addition, a general approach to performing a validation or verification will be reviewed along with ISO/IEC 17025 requirements for validation and verification of methods.

Measurement Uncertainty: Practical Applications. This course will provide an in-depth dive into measurement uncertainty concepts and the statistics behind the estimation of uncertainty of measurement. Participants will put their knowledge into practice with exercises on identifying uncertainty components, specifying the measurement process and evaluating and/or estimating standard uncertainties, combined standard uncertainties, and expanded uncertainties.

Understanding ISO/IEC 17043, General Requirements for Proficiency Testing. This course provides an overview of ANAB’s ISO/IEC 17043 accreditation program and requirements with a primary focus on applying the standard in accreditation processes. The course will also provide information about planning and activities to consider when preparing to apply for ISO/IEC 17043 accreditation.

Understanding ISO/IEC 27006 Information Technology – Security techniques – Requirements for bodies providing audit and certification of information security management systems. This course will provide a detailed overview of the standard requirements as well as its relationship with ISO/IEC 17021-1 Conformity Assessment – Requirements For Bodies Providing Audit And Certification Of Management Systems.

Overview of ISO/IEC 17029:2019, Conformity assessment – General principles and requirements for validation and verification bodiesANAB’s self-paced training will provide a general overview of the requirements along with examples of how they can be used by validation and verification bodies.

Understanding ISO standards for Environmental Information Validation/Verification. The course will examine the validation/verification process, accreditation requirements, as well as key differences between versions of the standards and introduction of new series of standards associated with ANAB’s VV Accreditation Program such as ISO/IEC 17029:2019, ISO 14065:2020, and ISO 14064-3:2019.
