The ANSI National Accreditation Board Celebrates 35 Years!
For three and a half decades, ANAB has been a trusted leader in accreditation, providing assurance to organizations worldwide that their services and systems meet the highest standards of quality and conformity assessment.
Thirty-five years ago, George Lofgren formed the first accreditation body to provide oversight for the quality management systems certifications in the United States: the Registrar Accreditation Board (RAB). RAB facilitated domestic and international trade by assuring the competence of third-party organizations that provided auditing and certification services. Through changes in name, ownership, leadership, and accreditation services, RAB eventually came to be what it is today: the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB).
Since its founding in 1989, ANAB has grown into a global leader in accreditation and training services, accrediting a wide range of conformity assessment bodies, including laboratories, certification bodies, inspection bodies, and forensic service providers, expanding into validation and verification bodies, certificate issuers, and personnel certifiers. ANAB’s accreditation programs and training offerings cover a diverse array of industries.
“We are incredibly proud to celebrate 35 years of excellence in accreditation,” said Doug Leonard, executive director at ANAB. “Our commitment to quality, integrity, and customer satisfaction has been the driving force behind our success. We look forward to continuing to serve our clients and stakeholders for many years to come.”
Future Success
As ANAB looks to the future, there is room for growth. As the AI and cybersecurity industries grow and face challenges presented by data governance, security breaches, complex regulatory compliance requirements, and more, there is a need for conformity assessment to create trust and confidence. ANAB accreditation is a key element of conformity assessment solutions that help assuring competence, impartiality, and consistent operation of conformity assessment bodies.
