U.S. Cyber Trust Mark and the Internet of Things: Join an ANAB Webinar to Learn More
On March 14, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) approved a voluntary cybersecurity labeling program for wireless consumer Internet of Things (IoT) devices: the U.S. Cyber Trust Mark program. ANAB will host a free webinar on April 25 to provide information related to this program.
According to the FCC, the program will “will help consumers make informed purchasing decisions, differentiate trustworthy products in the marketplace, and create incentives for manufacturers to meet higher cybersecurity standards” with a label including the U.S. Cyber Trust Mark for “qualifying consumer smart products that meet robust cybersecurity standards.”
Presenter Warren Merkel, ANAB’s vice president of policy, will review three elements of the program, including how they’re utilized by the FCC in its existing equipment authorization program, and how they may fit into this new program:
- Products must be tested by a laboratory accredited to ISO/IEC 17025;
- Products must be certified by an organization accredited to ISO/IEC 17065; and
- Requirements for products will be based on guidance published by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
The intended audience is anyone associated with the development, manufacturing, support, testing, or certification of consumer IoT products and related components.
The webinar will be held on April 25, 2024, from 2:00-3:00 p.m. ET. Registration is required.
