This course introduces the foundational concepts of measurement traceability, measurement assurance and measurement uncertainty for forensic service providers as well as a detailed review of applicable accreditation requirements from ISO/IEC 17025, ISO/IEC 17020 and the ANAB accreditation requirements. In addition, terminology used for measurement traceability and uncertainty and how these requirements apply to a forensic laboratory are discussed. Participants will acquire an understanding of the interrelationship between measurement traceability, measurement assurance and measurement uncertainty, learn about uncertainty components to consider and how to determine if those components are of significance and learn a practical approach for estimating measurement uncertainty.
The course content is presented in a series of three (A-C), live web-based modules, 2 hours each day. Participants are required to take the courses in sequence and an attendance certificate will be emailed to the attendee after all four segments are completed.
