ANAB provides the recommendation for drinking water certification to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Technical Support Center (TSC) for U.S. EPA Regional Laboratories that request evaluation in accordance with the U.S. EPA drinking water requirements in conjunction with the requirements contained in ISO/IEC 17025.
ANAB does not certify laboratories to the regulatory methods. Only the TSC can authorize the regulatory certification based on this assessment. It is the responsibility of the laboratory to notify the TSC of an upcoming assessment and a recommendation of certification by ANAB.
Drinking water certification will only be issued for analyte/method combinations specifically approved in the Code of Federal Regulations for compliance monitoring.
ANAB assessors meet all U.S. EPA Certification Officer requirements and use the U.S. EPA “consolidated elements” spreadsheet and follow all EPA required processes.
