Accreditation provides confidence that evidence is handled appropriately, breath alcohol instruments are properly calibrated, and test and inspection results are reliable for use in criminal and civil proceedings.

Criminal Justice Accreditations

Accreditation demonstrates that crime laboratories, law enforcement agencies, medical examiners and coroners offices and other organizations serving the public conduct their activities in conformance with internationally recognized standards.

ANAB offers accreditation to Forensic Testing and Calibration Laboratories, Forensic Inspection Bodies, and Property and Evidence Control Units. ANAB only uses subject matter experts with experience in the area for which the agency is seeking accreditation. Our assessors are highly trained industry experts who meet rigorous technical requirements.

ANAB is proud to share a few of our recognitions in the criminal justice industry:

  • ANAB partners with the International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program (ICITAP) of the Department of Justice to provide accreditation and training services in the international community
  • ANAB is the only accrediting body authorized by the New York State Commission on Forensic Science to accredit forensic laboratories to ISO/IEC 17025
  • ANAB is the exclusive provider of accreditation to the American Board of Forensic Toxicology (ABFT) Checklist in conjunction with ISO/IEC 17025
