ANAB Statement on Fraudulent Activity Claims in Organic Textiles Certification Activities

At ANAB, we firmly believe that ISO/IEC 17065 accreditation is crucial in building trust and confidence in the quality and competence of certification bodies that validate products, processes, and systems. That is why we are concerned, like our stakeholders and clients, to have heard about claims of fraudulent behavior under the ISO/IEC 17065 Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) and Textile Exchange (TE) certification schemes.

ANAB is currently investigating these claims along with our clients and scheme owners, and has taken and will continue to take the necessary and appropriate action in response, all in keeping with ISO/IEC 17011, our accreditation requirements, procedures, and processes, and our commitment to the various scheme owners and our stakeholders.

ANAB will take appropriate action to mitigate the risk to accreditations and the accredited conformity assessment system, and to protect the integrity of accreditation services and the valuable certification schemes with which we work to provide a safer, healthier, more efficient and sustainable world.
