Understanding Clause 6.4 of ISO/IEC 17025:2017
ISO/IEC 17025:2017 expanded on the previous definitions of Equipment. Laboratories continue to have challenges addressing this risk-based clause of the standard. The requirements for addressing and identifying laboratory equipment will be discussed, as well strategies for creating an organized and complete equipment inventory. Ways of utilizing a well-managed equipment inventory in improving other processes within the laboratory will be reviewed.
