ANAB offers accreditation to The NELAC Institute (TNI) Volume 1: Management and Technical Requirements for Laboratories Performing Environmental Analysis.
Environmental laboratories can now become accredited to multiple standards through one accreditation process. In addition to the TNI 2009 standard, the laboratory will be accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 and has the additional options for accreditation to the Department of Defense (DoD) Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (ELAP) and the TNI Non-governmental Accreditation Body (NGAB) Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (ELAP).
The coordinated approach to environmental programs gives ANAB accredited laboratories mechanisms for greater responsiveness to laboratories' changing needs. ANAB can adapt to any scope required by the laboratory and are not limited to only accredit to analytes regulated by state entities through regulation. ANAB has available means to provide scope expansions to laboratories within reasonable timeframes, cooperation that is necessary to allow for adequate response to short turn-around bids and proposals.
ANAB is currently accepting new applications for accreditation of laboratories that intend to test to the TNI requirements. ANAB is working with existing accredited laboratories to add compliance with these requirements to their existing scopes of accreditation.
ANAB accepts applications from laboratories interested in accreditation to the TNI standard.

In addition to offering a traditional ISO/IEC 17043 PT provider accreditation program, ANAB is recognized by TNI as an approved accreditation body for PT providers conducting PT studies for the evaluation of environmental testing laboratories. This program is called the National Environmental Proficiency Testing Program (NEPTP).
NEPTP relies on consensus standards representing the best professional practices in the industry to establish requirements for this program. The TNI Standard for PT Providers, Volume 3, is modeled after ISO/IEC Guide 43, General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories. TNI Standard Volume 4 is requirements for a proficiency test provider accreditor. The standard is based on ISO/IEC 17011:2004, Conformity Assessment - General Requirements for Accreditation Bodies Accrediting Conformity Assessment Bodies.
