ISED Canada Recognizes ANAB Accreditation for Testing Telecom Equipment

ANAB has been recognized by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) to accredit testing laboratories located in countries without mutual recognition arrangements for testing of telecommunications equipment.

Based on ISED’s Procedure for the Recognition of Accreditation Bodies for Non-MRA Countries REC-AB (Issue 1), ANAB can now accredit testing laboratories located in the People’s Republic of China, Indonesia, India, Japan, the Philippines, Russia, Thailand, and Ukraine, and designate them to ISED to test telecommunications terminal equipment, radio apparatus, and broadcasting equipment standards.

ANAB is responsible for reviewing the qualifications of a test laboratory’s personnel, management systems, and record keeping and reporting practices, and for sending recognized experts to observe testing at the laboratory to verify the laboratory’s competence to perform tests in accordance with ISED-related measurement procedures for both wireline and wireless telecommunications equipment.

ANAB’s scope of recognition will be included on ISED’s List of Recognized Accreditation Bodies for non-MRA countries webpage for four years, after which ANAB must seek renewal of recognition.
