Call for Nominations for ANAB Personnel Credentialing Committees

The ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB), a wholly owned subsidiary of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), is accepting nominations from interested persons to serve on its Personnel Credentialing Committees:  Personnel Certification Accreditation Committee (PCAC) and Certificate Accreditation Program Accreditation Committee (CAPAC). Nominations must be received by April 1, 2025 (PCAC) and February 28, 2025 (CAPAC).

Both nominations committees seek national experts with broad experience in the fields of personnel certification, accreditation, and policy development related to credentials. Although all individuals with relevant experience/knowledge are welcome to apply, preference will be given to individuals with a background in the following areas:

  • Psychometrics (Personnel Certification)
  • Post-secondary education
  • Government
  • Educational Training
  • Certificate Granting (Certificate Accreditation)

Personnel Certification Accreditation Committee (PCAC)

Requirements to serve include:

  • Experience working with national/international credentialing bodies, trade associations, regulatory/government agencies, trade unions, educational institutions, or testing agencies; and
  • Commitment to actively participate in all committee meetings.

Members are appointed to a three-year term and are eligible for reappointment for two additional terms. Specific duties of committee membership include: providing recommendations to policies and procedures for the ANAB Personnel Certification Accreditation Program, determining the accreditation status of certification bodies that have applied for initial accreditation or are undergoing their annual surveillance accreditation process, and providing input and advice to ANAB staff regarding operational issues.

Members attend quarterly one-day meetings each year and serve on subcommittees and review panels as appointed by the PCAC chair. Travel for the quarterly meetings may be required. More information on PCAC is provided in the Operating Procedure for Credentialing Accreditation Committees.

Certificate Accreditation Program Accreditation Committee (CAPAC)

Specific duties of committee membership include: providing recommendations to policies and procedures for the ANAB Certificate Accreditation Program, determining the accreditation status of certificate issuers that have applied for initial accreditation or are undergoing their annual surveillance accreditation process, and providing input and advice to ANAB staff regarding operational issues. Members attend quarterly one-day meetings each year and serve on sub-committees and review panels as appointed by the CAPAC Chair. Travel for the quarterly meetings may be required. Nomination Process for Both Committees

To self-nominate, please provide the following:

  • Resume or curriculum vitae
  • Cover letter that includes:
    • A statement of your willingness to serve
    • A description of your relevant experience and expertise
      • PCAC Specific – experience and expertise working with national/international credentialing bodies, trade associations, regulatory/government agencies, trade unions, educational institutions, or testing agencies
    • An acknowledgement that ANAB does not reimburse for expenses and costs associated with travel for meeting attendance

To nominate another individual, please provide the following:

  • Nominee’s resume or curriculum vitae
  • Letter of endorsement for the nominee
  • Current contact information for nominee. ANAB staff may then contact nominee for a letter that includes:
    • A statement of nominee’s willingness to serve
    • A description of nominee’s relevant experience and expertise
      • PCAC Specific – experience and expertise working with national/international credentialing bodies, trade associations, regulatory/government agencies, trade unions, educational institutions, or testing agencies
    • An acknowledgement that ANAB does not reimburse for expenses and costs associated with travel for meeting attendance

About ANAB’s Personnel Certification Accreditation Program

ANAB’s Personnel Certification Accreditation Program (PCAP) verifies a certification body’s compliance with requirements outlined in the International Standard ISO/IEC 17024General Requirements for Bodies Operating Certification Systems of Persons. In conducting its accreditation activities, ANAB follows the International Standard ISO/IEC 17011:2017Conformity Assessment — General Requirements for Accreditation Bodies Accrediting Conformity Assessment Bodies. Since the inception of the program in 2003, more than 85 personnel certification bodies for 200 certification programs have been accredited.

About ANAB’s Certificate Accreditation Program

The Certificate Accreditation Program Accreditation Committee (CAPAC) accredits training and educational certificate issuers in accordance with ANSI/ASTM E2659-18, Standard Practice for Certificate Programs. The responsibilities of the Committee include:

  • Preparing procedures and criteria for assessment
  • Formulating policy matters relating to the operation of the Certificate Accreditation Program
  • Reviewing the process of assessment and rendering decisions on accreditation
  • Making decisions relating to the granting, maintaining, extending, suspending, reducing, and withdrawing of accreditation
  • Creating procedures to support the approved policies.
  • Receiving recommendations for accreditation from ANAB approved assessors
  • Supervising the implementation of accreditation program policies
  • Delegating authority to organizations, committees, or individuals, as required, to undertake defined operational activities on its behalf
