ANAB is recognized by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) as an accrediting body for the Project 25 Compliance Assessment Program (P25 CAP). P25 CAP standardizes interfaces among land mobile radio (LMR) systems used by first responders.
The purpose of the program is to provide emergency response agencies with evidence that the communication equipment they purchase meets P25 standards for performance, conformance, and interoperability. Suppliers of this type of equipment can demonstrate compliance with P25 standards through testing facilities accredited by ANAB.
P25 CAP helps first responders make purchasing decisions because it provides a verifiable way to know that the equipment purchased is P25-compliant and, therefore, provides enhanced interoperability. P25 equipment suppliers will release summary test reports (STRs) and supplier's declaration of compliance (SDOC) documents based on detailed test reports (DTRs) from the DHS-recognized laboratories performing product testing. This documentation will serve to increase public confidence in the performance, conformance, and interoperability of P25 equipment.
To become recognized, a laboratory must meet the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025 and the P25 Laboratory Equipment Requirements. Each successful P25 CAP laboratory can display a seal to distinguish itself as a competent test facility.
