The Mutual Recognition Agreement Between the Government of the United States of America and the Government of the United Mexican States for Conformity Assessment of Telecommunications Equipment (U.S.-Mexico Telecom MRA) was implemented on September 26, 2017. 3.1. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is the designating authority under U.S.-Mexico Telecom MRA.

Under this ANAB accreditation program, accredited telecom testing laboratories can meet the requirements of the MRA and attain designation from NIST to test telecom equipment mutually acceptable to the U.S. and Mexican governments.

NIST reviews and processes requests from U.S.-based laboratories for recognition by Mexico’s telecom regulator, Instituto Federal de Telecomunicacione (IFT), and IFT makes decisions on recognition of U.S. laboratories.
